One ride, not three copies of it
The highlighted job on the board is the one on both phones. The platform holds it as a single trip with a party for each person on it, and each party carries its own token. That is why the rider can watch the car approach and message the driver without either of them holding the other’s number, and why the board moves without anyone refreshing it.
